Men's and women's cross country climb regional and national
polls going into NCAA Championships
Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's and women's
cross country programs have both climbed the national and
regional polls this week with both teams claiming the number one
spot in the region, while moving up in the national poll, as
well.
The Southern women held tight to
the regional number one spot for the eighth straight week and
moved from No. 9 to No. 8 in the national poll with its NCAA
Division II South Central Regional Championship this past
weekend.
The men jumped over previously
No. 1 Abilene Christian in the regional poll to claim the top
spot, as well as moving from No. 16 to No. 11 this week with
their South Central Regional Championship title. The Lions
defeated Abilene Christian, the previously No. 1 ranked team in
the country and ACU moved from No. 1 to No. 3 in the national
poll.
Missouri Southern will be the
host of the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross
Country National Championships on November 17 at the Missouri
Southern Cross Country Course and Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
