Kimi Shank named MIAA Cross Country Runner of the Week

Overland Park, Kan. -- After leading the Missouri Southern women's cross country team to its second title in a row, including her second-straight individual title, sophomore Kimi Shank has been named the MIAA Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Shank, a native of St. James, Mo. and Rolla High School won her second straight event with a victory at the Missouri/Illinois Border Wars hosted by Southern Illinois - Edwardsville. She navigated the 5k course in a time of 18:19.06 to help the Lions place first among 25 teams in the event.

Shank has placed at least third in each event this year with two individual titles. The Lions, as a team, have placed no lower than second in every event and are ranked first in the South Central region and ninth overall in Division II.

Both men's and women's squads will now prepare for the MIAA Championships to be held at Truman State University on October 20.
