Robbs, Kantin are Honorable Mention All-MIAA selections

As the Missouri Southern Lions prepare to participate in the MIAA Postseason Tournament for the seventh straight season, a pair of Lions received postseason honors from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.  Senior Dana-Mae Robbs (Lecompton, Kan.) and junior Robin Kantin (Silver Spring, Md.) were each named to the MIAA honorable mention squad this season as voted on by the coaches of the league.

Robbs, the lone senior on the Lions' squad, leads Southern in points (14.0), rebounds (7.1) and is second in field goal percentage (.497).  She has led the Lions in scoring nine times this year to go along with three double-doubles on the year, including a 23 point and 17 rebound performance in an MSSU victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State earlier this year. 

Robbs recently returned from a four-game absence to lead the Lions (14-12, 7-11 MIAA) to a pair of victories over Pittsburg State and No. 2-ranked Missouri Western that helped Southern clinch the No. 5 seed in the MIAA Tournament.

Kantin is an all-conference honorable mention pick for the second straight season.  Known for her hard-working and slashing style, Kantin has been a constant in the Lions' lineup since arriving on the MSSU campus last year. 

Kantin has played in every game the past two years and has started in all but two, including all 26 outings this season.  She is second on the Lions with 12.2 points a game and is tied for third with 5.3 rebounds per outing. 

Kantin also ranks second on the Lions with 63 assists and has been a dependable free-throw shooter, making 77 percent (88-of-114) of her shots from the charity stripe. 

Robbs and Kantin will lead the fifth-seeded Lions against the No. 4 seed Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Friday afternoon (Mar. 2) at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.  Tip-off is set for 2:15 p.m.
