FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Three Lions named to
MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll Dana-Mae Robbs, a 6-foot forward from Lecompton, Kan., has a 3.78 grade-point average in biology. Robbs, the lone senior on the Lions' squad this season, exhibited senior leadership by leading the Lions in scoring (13.6) and rebounding (6.9). She posted three double-doubles this year, including a 23 point and 17 rebound performance in an early season win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Robin Kantin, a 5-foot-9 guard out of Silver Spring, Md, maintains a 3.16 GPA as a physical education major at Southern. Kantin was the only Lion that started all 27 games and was third in points (12.0) and fourth in rebounds (5.3). She also showed excellent touch from the charity stripe, making 90-of-116 of her free-throw attempts for a 77.6 percentage at the foul line. The third Lion to be selected is Danielle DeVader, a 5-foot-9 guard from Holton, Kan. with a 3.62 GPA in physical education. DeVader returned to play in 26 games this year after battling knee injuries for the past two seasons. She was the Lions' top three-point shooter this season, hitting on 52-of-133 of her three-point attempts (39 percent). She averaged 8.2 points and 3.5 rebounds a game and was nearly automatic from the free-throw line, going 23-of-26 (88.5 percent) at the charity stripe. On the hardwood this season, the Lions battled through injuries and departures to make their seventh straight appearance in the MIAA Postseason Tournament as the fifth seed and also secured their sixth consecutive winning season with a 14-13 overall record.
