Lions debut at No. 6
In first NCAA South Central Region
Indianapolis, Ind. - If the NCAA Division II Postseason
Tournament started today, the Missouri Southern Lions would be a part of
it as they debuted at No. 6 in the initial South Central Regional
rankings this season. The top eight teams in the region advance to the
postseason tournament.
This week's rankings feature six MIAA squads within the top 10. West
Texas A&M is the top-ranked squad, followed by Washburn at No. 2.
Central Oklahoma, Angelo State and Truman round out the top five.
Southern comes in sixth, with Southwest Baptist, Emporia State, Texas
A&M Commerce and Northwest Missouri State finishing the top 10.
The Lions are currently 13-4 overall and 4-4 in the MIAA. They are 10-4
within in the South Central Region and were the last team in the region
to lose a game this season. Southern has won four of its last five
conference games, including a 90-71 win over then No. 16-ranked Emporia
State (Jan. 23).
