104-28
Box Score
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Redshirt freshman Danielle
DeVader (Holton, Kan.) tied her career-high with 18 points and led five
Lions in double-figures as Missouri Southern set a school-record for
margin of victory by handily defeating the Ozark Christian Lady
Ambassadors, 104-28, Tuesday night (Dec. 6) at the Leggett & Platt
Athletic Center.
The win raises the Lions overall record to 6-2, while the Lady
Ambassadors, an NCCAA Division II school, drop to 3-8 on the year.
The Lions were never challenged as they scored the game's first 28
points and held OCC scoreless for the first 8:11 of the contest.
Southern continued to increase the lead throughout the first half and
led 53-18 at halftime.
The second half didn't get any better for OCC, as the Lions charged out
of the locker room and outscored the Lady Ambassadors 32-6 over the
first 10:31 of the second stanza to lead 85-24 with 9:29 remaining and
sailed to the victory.
DeVader was joined in double-figures by senior Dacie Reutlinger (Owasso,
Okla.), juniors Marina Caran (Kovin, Serbia) and Dana-Mae Robbs
(Lecompton, Kan.), along with freshman Meghan Welch (Goddard, Kan.), who
all finished with 12 points each. Robbs also pulled down a game-high 10
rebounds to become the first Lion to record a double-double this season.
The Lions topped the 100 point mark for the first time since 1996, which
came in a 103-59 victory over Southwestern.
The Lions as a unit also set a season-high for three-pointers made,
going 12-for-27 from beyond the arc, led by DeVader's 6-of-11 and
Welch's 4-of-6 shooting from three-point distance.
OCC was led by freshman Megan Garris, who finished with nine points and
four assists.
MSSU will now prepare for their MIAA opener, as they host No. 6-ranked
Emporia State Saturday night (Dec. 10) at 5:30 p.m. at the Leggett &
Platt Athletic Center.
