Three Lions on MIAA Commissioner’s
Academic Honor Roll for volleyball

Three members of the Missouri Southern State University women’s volleyball team were named to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll announced on Friday (Dec. 3).
MSSU student-athletes named to the team included:
Senior Sara Jaynes (Springfield, Mo.) - Jaynes, who averaged 2.38 kills and 3.27 digs in 121 games this year, is a psychology major with a 3.559 grade-point average.
Junior Marci Johnson (Winona, Mo.) - Johnson had 15 service aces and 26 digs in 72 games for Southern this season. She is a biology major with a 3.026 GPA.
Sophomore Ashley Mehrer (Kansas City, Mo.) - Mehrer, a communications (public relations) major, holds a 3.366 GPA. She led the Lions in hitting (.285) and blocking (1.08 per game) while averaging 2.67 kills in 121 games.
To earn MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll recognition, student-athletes must: 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better at the nominating institution, 2) have at least two terms of attendance at the nonminating institution (excluding summer session), and 3) be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility. Redshirts and those seeking a medical hardship are not eligibile.
