Mutert named Wilson/MIAA Setter of the Week

Missouri Southern senior volleyball player Kym Mutert (Washington, Mo.) was named Wilson/MIAA Setter of the Week today, the conference announced.

Mutert moved into eighth place on the MIAA's career assists list in helping the Lions go 2-1 last week. She passed both Abby Willms of Northwest Missouri State and Jamie St. Marie of Central Missouri State on the list and now has 4,352 assists for her career. Earlier this season, Mutert surpassed the Missouri Southern career mark for assists.

Mutert had 46 assists (15.33 per game) and 12 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Drury on Tuesday (Oct. 21). She added six kills, two block assists and an ace against the Lady Panthers.

In a 3-0 loss to then-No. 20 Washburn the next day, she had 38 assists (12.67 pg), nine digs, five kills, one ace and one block assist.

In a 3-1 win at Emporia State on Friday (Oct. 24), Mutert logged 48 assists, 15 digs and four block assists.

For the week, the 5-7 graduate of St. Francis Borgia High School averaged 13.2 asissts, 3.7 digs, 1.7 kills and 0.70 blocks per game.
