Dan Armstrong joins Robert Corn’s staff after an eight-year retirement. Prior to arriving at MSSU, Armstrong served as head coach for the Carthage Tigers for 17 seasons, guiding the Tigers to three consecutive championships along with four Southwest titles. Armstrong earned the Joplin Globe Coach of the Year during his tenure at CHS.

Armstrong’s coaching career also includes stints as an assistant at Sedalia Smith-Cotton for five seasons and William Jewell for two years. He also spent two years overseas as a player-coach in Belgium for Louvain la Neuve University, with the second season serving as head coach. Armstrong played college basketball at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Armstrong received his bachelor’s degree from William Jewell in 1974 and then obtained his master’s degree from Central Missouri. He and his wife Sally have been married for 30 years and currently reside in Carthage. They have three daughters, Alice and twins Aggie and Lucy.
