We Take Pride in "Our Pride"
Missouri Southern is very proud of its "Lion Pride" Band. In the fall semester, the Marching Band entertains football crowds with exciting shows utilizing the latest in Marching Band concepts. The Band also represents Southern in other ways, such as tours and special trips. A unique camaraderie and spirit exists in the "Lion Pride" Band that serves to make incoming freshmen feel they are an important part of the organization.
In the spring semester the Band plays concert literature, performing on campus, in the area, and on tours.
The Band consists of both music majors and majors in many other areas. Although the Band is growing rapidly, a member is not "just a member," bit is treated, respected, and appreciated as an individual.

Bands . . . And More
In addition to the Band, Missouri Southern offers many other opportunities for the instrumentalist. From the Symphony Orchestra to the Jazz Band, and even a Pep Band that offers a salary for all who pass the audition, the instrumentalist at Southern has a wide range of performance choices.

Tradition . . .
The Lion Pride Band, both marching and concert, performs for thousands of avid fans each season and has acquired a national reputation of excellence by performing at such notable sites as London, England; Epcott Center; Cypress Gardens; Busch Stadium in St. Louis; the Minnesota Winter Carnival; and Las Vegas, Nevada. By special request the Band also presented a performance for President George Bush.

The Missouri Southern Department of Music offers courses for the music major or for the student who "just wants to learn more about music."
The Bachelor of Science Degree is offered in instrumental, vocal, and elementary music education. The Bachelor of Arts Degree is offered in music performance. A highly qualified faculty will help you achieve your musical potential.
In addition to the Band and Orchestra programs, Missouri Southern offers performing experience in vocal ensembles, and private instruction in piano, organ, voice, brass, woodwind, percussion, strings, and jazz improvisation on any instrument.
