Barrow named to academic all-district team

Mary Barrow (Muskogee, Okla.), a junior on the Missouri Southern State University softball team, was named a second-team selection on the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Team as selected by sports information directors throughout the district.

Barrow, a 5-foot-5 catcher/designated player, was picked for second-team accolades at the designated player position. In 2004, she batted .309 with two home runs and 12 RBI. Barrow played in and started 34 of Southern’s 46 games this year. She missed 12 contests with a knee injury, but returned to action in April. She had a career-best seven-game hitting streak this year and banged out a career-high four hits in a March 12 game vs. Augustana (S.D.).

On target for her second straight MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll selection, Barrow holds a 3.372 GPA as a biology/pre-medicine major. She is the daughter of Thomas and Connie Barrow, and is a graduate of Hilldale High School.

Barrow was one of eight players from the MIAA that were picked for the CoSIDA Academic All-District first and second teams.
