Lions announce several signings for ‘04-05
Softball, women’s soccer, men’s track add to rosters

With the 2004-05 academic year approaching soon, several Missouri Southern State University coaches have announced more additions to their rosters for the upcoming season.

Shae Wolfe (Coweta, Okla.) will join the head coach Jennifer Jimerson's softball program in 2004-05; Kelli McCoy (Collinsville, Okla.) will participate in women's soccer for coach Trevor Wachsman; and head coach Tom Rutledge has announced that Jason Greek (Cassville, Mo.) and Sam McDonald (Imperial, Mo.) will join the Lions track & field squad next season. All are incoming freshmen.

Wolfe, a 5-foot-6 centerfielder, was a three-time all-conference performer for the Coweta High School Tigers of coach Dave Willhite. She was a three-year starter and earned all-state and all-region accolades as a senior in 2003. Wolfe comes from a winning program, as the Tigers won the state Class 5A title in 2002 and finished as runner-up in 2001. The daughter of Tony Wolfe and Linda Kantor, she intends to major in business at MSSU.

McCoy was a four-year starter on the soccer pitch at Collinsville High School under coach Joe Ogden. A 5-foot-2 defender, she was an all-district performer and the Gatorade Player of the Year in Oklahoma. A sister, Evalyn McCoy, played soccer at Bethel (Tenn.) College. McCoy is the daughter of Chuck and Cheryl Bradley and hopes to major in criminal justice at MSSU.

McDonald, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, comes to Southern from Windsor (Imperial) High School, where he was a four-time all-state performer in track & field. A prep hurdler/jumper, he holds school records in the 110-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump. McDonald, the son of Leland and Debbie McDonald, was also a three-year starter in football as a defensive end and a four-year starter in wrestling. He was an All-Metro football player and a state qualifier in wrestling. McDonald hopes to study communications (broadcasting) at MSSU.

Greek is a 5-foot-11 and 165-pound sprinter/jumper from Cassville High School. He was a two-year letterwinner in track & field with the Wildcats and set school records in the long jump and as part of the 4x400-meter relay squad. Greek earned the Wildcat (High Point) Award in track & field this year and was also an all-conference and all-district wide receiver in football. He helped the Wildcats to the district crown in football this past season and to the conference title in basketball. He is the son of Charles and Donna Greek and intends to study computer science.
