Seth Hackney named to US Track Coaches All-Academic Team

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern freshman thrower Seth Hackney has been named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Coaches Association All-Academic Team for the 2008-09 academic year.

Hackney, a 6-2, 215 pound native of Carl Junction was a qualifier in the outdoor shot put this season and placed seventh in the MIAA Championships with a distance of 53 feet, seven inches. Hackney went on to place 15th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and was one of seven MIAA throwers to advance to the National Meet.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Hackney, also a member of the Lions football team, will be a redshirt freshman on the offensive line this upcoming season.
