FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Southern women lead second place Truman 18 points on the strength of two individual titles and five All-MIAA performances. The Men are in third place behind Central Missouri and Pittsburg State after Phillip Horn's title in the decathlon earlier in the week and three other All-MIAA performances. Brennan Benkart and Jarkko Jarvenpaa placed second and third in the men's 10k with times of 31:32.42 and 31:35.41, respectively. Both earned All-MIAA status. Corey Shumate was second in the pole vault with a height of 15-05.75 to earn All-MIAA honors, while Seager Wilson was fourth in the event. Phillip Horn had the top time in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, while both DeAngelo Wood (400m dash) and Kevin Wright (400m hurdles) qualified for the finals in their event. John Lowe placed eighth in the pole vault. Kimi Shank (10k) and Emilie Mieseler (hammer) won their respective events and picked up All-MIAA honors. Shank finished the race in a time of 38:03.05, while Mieseler threw 163 feet, 11 inches. Courtney Waltbillig and Kara Eckard finished second and third in the 3k to earn All-MIAA status, while Ciara Lipsey placed second in the pole vault to pick up All-MIAA honors. Channell Lloyd had the second-fastest time in the 100m hurdles and qualified for the finals, while Carita Riutta and Shannan Borgard (800m) Danielle Oliver (100m) qualified in their respective events. In other action, Erin Steffens, Mieseler and Cortney Vie were fourth, fifth and ninth, respectively in the shot put. Ashley Bunch placed fourth in the 10k, while Kari Fritchie was seventh in the 3k. Both teams will conclude the meet tomorrow with a full list of final events to take place, all beginning at noon. |
