FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Indoor track and field teams appear in coaches top 25 poll New Orleans, La. -- Both the Missouri Southern men's and women's indoor track and field teams are represented in the latest US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Power rankings this week. The women hold strong with the No. 2 ranking, while the men enter the poll at No. 17. The Southern women, behind the strength of national rankings in the shot and weight throw, as well as the 5k keep the No. 2 spot in the poll for the second straight week. Jessica Selby-Tallman holds the top spot in the shot put with a distance of 15.57m, while she is fifth in the weight throw at 18.09m. Jessica Self is 11th in the country, while Courtney Vie and Emilie Mieseler are 16th and 26th, respectively in the event. Alison Walker's time of 2:17.45 in the 800m ranks 22nd nationally, while Kimi Shank's school record in the 5k of 17:26.69 is the fourth best in Division II this year. On the men's side, the pole vaulters are again showing strong, as Jacob Williams and Russell Ellis are first and third, respectively in the event this season. Williams' vault of 5.03m ranks first, while Ellis is third at 4.93m. Seager Wilson (4.73m) ranks 14th in the event. Corey Reynolds' high jump of 2.07m ranks him seventh nationally in the event. The women lead a contingent of four teams from the MIAA ranked in the top 25 as Northwest Missouri is 8th, followed by Central Missouri (17th) and Emporia State (24th). Central Missouri is the highest ranked team on the men's side coming in at 12th. They are followed by Northwest Missouri at 14th and Emporia State at 15th. Both the men and women will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Warrensburg to compete in the Central Missouri Mule Relays.
