Southern announces signing of West Plains sprinter

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern men's track and field coach Tom Rutledge has announced the signing of John Lowe to a national letter of intent to attend Southern and participate in track and field beginning in the winter of 2009.

Lowe is a 5'11 sprinter from West Plains where he was a four year letter winner in track and three year letter winner in football for the Zizzers.

A 2008 graduate, Lowe helped head his track team to back-to-back district championships in 2006 and 07, as well as a district title in football in 2005 and 2007. He holds the WPHS school record for the 110 meter high hurdles (14.82) as well as being a member of the school record holding 4x100m relay team (43.31).

The son of Greg and Anita Lowe, John plans to major in Biology at Southern.
