FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lions sign track athlete from Wheaton Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern men's track and field coach Tom Rutledge has announced the signing of Chris Musick to attend Southern and participate in track and field beginning in 2008. Musick is a 6'0 high jumper and sprinter from Wheaton High School in Wheaton, Mo. A four-year varsity athlete in track, cross country, baseball and basketball, Musick ran track for coach Darryl Crane. A four-time all-state selection in track, Musick won the conference championship in the high jump in his freshman, sophomore and junior years, with his senior year yet to be completed. He is a three-time conference champion in the 4x100m relay, as well as a two time district champ in the high jump and was the district champ in the 4x100 his sophomore year. His personal best in the high jump is 6'3. An all-conference selection in both baseball and basketball, Musick was a member of the Joplin Globe All-Area Team in baseball his sophomore season, and basketball his junior season. Musick is also an outstanding student, sporting a 3.8 gpa in the classroom. He plans on going into sports medicine. Musick's father, Jeff is a graduate of Missouri Southern. |
