FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rhoads named MIAA Athlete of the Week
Missouri Southern State University senior
men’s track & field student-athlete Craig Rhoads (West
Plains, Mo.) was named a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics
Association Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, the conference
announced.
Rhoads, a 6-foot and 165-pound senior,
logged a season-best time in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the
University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational Saturday
(April 23). He placed fourth in the event -- behind three
runners from the host Razorbacks -- with a clocking of 9
minutes, 31.97 seconds.
Rhoads’ time was the best this year
by a Lion and was 7.97 seconds from an NCAA Division II
provisional qualifying mark.
Missouri Southern continues its season on
Saturday (April 30) when it hosts the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad
Invitational at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. The meet was originally
scheduled for Friday (April 29) but was pushed back on Thursday
due to Friday’s forecast of rain and thunderstorms.
