Additional signee announced for men’s track & field teams

Missouri Southern head men’s track & field coach Tom Rutledge announced today the addition of another former prep standout for the Lions squad in 2003-04.
Justin Juline, of West Plains, Mo., has signed on to join the Southern squad, Rutledge said.
Juline, 6-1 and 160 pounds, is a multi-faceted athlete that figures to help the Lions in many areas, and could figure into the picture as a decathlete, Rutledge said. Juline competed in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles at West Plains High School, also participating in the pole vault and 4x400-meter relay.
As a junior and as a senior, Juline was a Missouri Class 4 state qualifier as part of the Zizzers 4x400-meter relay squad. As a sophomore, he made it to the state meet in the 300-meter hurdles as WPHS finished fourth.
Juline also played football while at West Plains, earning second-team all-conference and second-team all-district accolades.
Juline joins eight other signees for the Lions squad in 2003-04, including West Plains teammate Brian Roe. Other MSSC signees include Casey Carter (Carthage, Mo.), Luke Clark (Nevada, Mo.), Neil Hombs (Boonville, Mo.), Ryan McIver (Norman, Okla.), Dustin Miller (Carthage, Mo.), Charlie Natividad (Lee’s Summit, Mo.), and Graham Patterson (Rogers, Ark.). Clark (throws), Hombs (sprints), Natividad (sprints) and Patterson (decathlon) are track & field-only signees, while distance men Carter, McIver, Miller and Roe also figure into the Lions’ plans for cross country.
Rutledge is in his 15th year as Missouri Southern’s head men’s track & field coach and this year guided the Lions to third-place finishes at the indoor and outdoor MIAA meets. He coached four All-Americas this year in track & field, including an indoor national champion pole vaulter in senior Seth Isringhausen. His cross country teams have won or shared each of the last three conference titles and this year finished seventh at the national championships behind senior All-America Brian Lyons.
