2006: Earned
the MIAA indoor championship in the pole vault and captured the NCAA Division II
indoor title in the event as well ... cleared 16-8 to win the national meet on
misses over runner-up and teammate Kyle Rutledge ... cleared 16-6.75 and also
won on misses over Rutledge at the MIAA indoor meet ... cleared 17 feet twice in
2006 and held five of the Lions top seven marks in the pole vault.
2005: Won the
MIAA indoor crown in the pole vault and finished as national runner-up in the
event ... cleared 17-1.5 at the national meet after setting the school record of
17-1.75 at the Powered by Tyson Invitational ... outdoors, won the NCAA Division
II national championship in the pole vault with a school record mark of 17-2.75,
spearheading the Lions' 1-2-3 national finish in the event ... was also the MIAA
pole vault champion with a mark of 17-1.5.
2004: Was a national qualifier
in the pole vault indoors and outdoors ... finished as MIAA indoor champion
with a vault of 16'-1.25" ... was fourth at the conference outdoor
meet as he cleared 15'-3" ... posted Southern's top four marks in the
pole vault during both the indoor and outdoor seasons ... hit 17'-0"
outdoors, the third-best outdoor mark in school history, at the Pittsburg
State/Wendy's Invitational.
In junior college: Participated in track & field one season
at Neosho County (Kan.) Community College ... finished second in the nation
indoors with a vault of 16'-10" ... also set school indoor pole vault
record (16'-10") ... was outdoor national champion with a mark of 17'-0.75".
In high school: Three-time state high school pole vault champion
(1999-01) and was runner-up in the event as a freshman in 1998 ... set the
school and Indiana High School State Championships meet record when he cleared
16'-9" in 2001 ... was a three-year All-American and a member of the
U.S. Junior Track Team ... also participated in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles
as well as the 4x400-meter relay.
Personal: A criminal justice major ... born March 9, 1982 in Linton,
Ind. ... son of Steve and Linda Campbell.
