Haight named SSC Defensive Player of the Week

Missouri Southern State University junior Travis Haight (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has been named the Southwest Soccer Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 26.

Haight made nine saves and allowed only one goal in the Lions' two matches last weekend, which included a 3-0 upset victory over SSC-leading West Texas A&M (Oct. 23). In that match, Haight recorded seven saves against 21 WTAMU shot attempts. The only goal he allowed came on a penalty kick in a 1-0 loss to Eastern New Mexico (Oct. 21).

Haight currently leads the SSC in saves (115), saves per game (7.19) and shutouts (4). He also ranks fifth in NCAA Division II in saves per game.

For his career, Haight is the all-time Lions leader in saves (334), along with holding the MSSU single-season record for saves (160, 2004) and minutes (1,756:57). He also has spent the third most minutes all-time in the net at Southern (4,114:31).
