Sinksen earns All-MIAA honors, MIAA Athlete of the Week

Missouri Southern State University senior Danny Sinksen (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished fourth on a scorecard playoff at last week's rain-shortened Central Region Invitational at Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, Kan. But Sinksen's one-under-par 71 led Missouri Southern to a two-stroke victory over Washburn. For his efforts, Sinksen was named MIAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (April 19).

Sinksen shot a 34 on the back nine to cap off his 71, which tied for low-round honors in the touranment. Fort Hays State's Cole Nondorf won medalist honors on the scorecard playoff. Truman's Austin George was second, Washburn's Chris McGown third and Sinksen fourth.

Sinksen's 71 marks the Lions' low round of the spring schedule.

On Wednesday, the MSSU senior was named to the All-MIAA golf team for the third time in his four-year MSSU career. The All-MIAA golf team is selected based on a points system determined by the players' finish at the five conference-sanctioned events played this season -- two in the fall and three in the spring. Sinksen averaged 76.3 strokes per round of 18 in the spring and recorded three top 10 finishes at MIAA meets this year, all this semester.

Sinksen was also an All-MIAA performer as a freshman and as a junior.
