Lions finish ninth at Northeastern State Classic

Broken Arrow, Okla.
- The Missouri Southern golf team sat in seventh place after round two, but a tough final round saw the Lions slip to ninth place overall at the 10th Annual Northeastern State Golf Classic held Emerald Falls Golf Club in Broken Arrow.

Abilene Christian used a final round, two-under 286 to secure the team title, finishing one stroke in front of Central Oklahoma and four in front of Washburn.

Lions freshman Andy Hogenmiller (Washington, Mo.) continued to be the team's top scorer this season as he shot a seven over 223 to finish 15th. Seve Smith (Webb City, Mo.) had a 230, while Chris Needham (Springdale, Ark.) and Taylor Griffith (Springdale, Ark.) both shot a 234. David Eddy (Carl Junction, Mo.) had a three-round 241.

Northeastern State finished fourth, while Arkansas Tech, Central Missouri, Texas A&M Commerce, St. Mary's, Southern and Southeastern Oklahoma State rounded out the top ten. Abilene's Patrick Hanauer finished with a four under 212 for the tournament to capture the individual title.

Southern will be back in action when the Lions travel to Springfield to compete in the Drury Invitational at Rivercut Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday.
