Allendale, Mich. - Missouri Southern sophomore Jamie Voegelli (Muskogee, Okla.) shot a final round two over par to finish four over for the tournament and tied for 12th at the 2009 NCAA Division II Super Regional at the Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Michigan.

Voegelli had a stellar first round with a two under par 69 and stayed consistent over the full 54 holes to finish tied for 12th.

For most of the Lions, however, it was a tale of two sides, as for the most part, Southern shot extremely well on the front nine, but had difficulties with the back nine.

"We were in good shape after the first round," said head coach Kevin Greim. "The next two rounds were frustrating because we just blistered the front side both rounds, and completely blew up on the back nines. In the second round we turned at 1-over as a team but played the back 16 over. And then today, it was a carbon copy. We played the front at 1-under and the back at 17-over. The back nine was obviously more tough, but it wasn't as tough as we made it. It's frustrating because you see glimpses and stretches of championship caliber play, but we have to learn to avoid these types of collapses.

Freshman Andy Hogenmiller (Washington, Mo.) rebounded from a round one, seven over to shot one over in round two and one under today to finish seven over for the tournament and tied for 24th.

"I'm so proud of Jamie and Andy and the way they performed at this event," Greim said. "Jamie played brilliantly all tournament and was in position to make it to the national tournament as an individual had he putted better. And had Andy had a better first round, he might be headed to nationals as well."

Sophomore Seve Smith (Webb City, Mo.) shot a three round 230, while junior David Eddy shot a three-day 232 and junior Taylor Griffith (Carthage, Mo.) shot a 237.

"I honestly didn't know at the start of the year if we could make this regional tournament, but to our guys credit, they earned it," Greim said. "From that standpoint this season was a success. We have just about everybody back for next year. They've seen what it takes to take the next step and they know what they need to work on individually over the summer. My expectations for this team next season are very high."
