Lions golf qualifies for 2009 NCAA Division II Super Regional

Joplin, Mo.
- For the seventh year in a row, the Missouri Southern golf team will be heading to an NCAA Regional as the Lions have qualified for the NCAA Division II South Central/Midwest Regional to be held at the Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich. Grand Valley State will serve as the host for this year's event.

The Lions enter the tournament as the ninth seed in the South Central Region. Central Oklahoma is the No. 1 seed, followed by Washburn, St. Edwards (Texas), Northeastern State (Okla.), Central Missouri, Abilene Christian (Texas), St. Mary's (Texas), Texas A&M Commerce, Southern and Dallas Baptist.

The Lions finished third in the 2009 MIAA Tournament, as well as the final overall standings and were paced by All-MIAA performances from junior David Eddy (Carl Junction, Mo.) and freshman Andy Hogenmiller (Washington, Mo.). Sophomore Taylor Griffith (Carthage, Mo.) was an honorable mention All-MIAA selection.

While two regions compete at each Super Regional site, they do not necessarily compete against each other. The top five teams from both regions, regardless of what region they're in, as well as the top two individuals not on an advancing team, will advance to the National Tournament which will be held on May 19-22 at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Washington. Western Washington University will serve as the host.
