Lions finish in third after rain-shortened Drury Invite

Springfield, Mo.
- The Missouri Southern golf team placed third, just four strokes off the lead, after rain cut short the final round of the 2009 Pasta House Drury Spring Invitational today at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield.

Junior David Eddy (Carl Junction, Mo.) and sophomore Taylor Griffith (Carthage, Mo.) both shot a 161 to finish tied for sixth place, while Jamie Voegeli (Muskogee, Okla.) placed 14th with a 163. Andy Hogenmiller (Washington, Mo.), Seve Smith (Webb City, Mo.) and Chris Needham (Springdale, Ark.) tied for 25th with a 167. Senior David Clark (Neosho, Mo.) shot a 174.

The Lions trailed the eventual team champion Central Missouri by four strokes as the Mules shot a 648 after two rounds. Drury's (A) team shot a 649, while the Lions were at a 652. West Texas A&M was fourth, while Arkansas Tech, Southwest Baptist, Missouri Western, Missouri-St. Louis, Rockhurst, Truman, Pittsburg State and Drury's (B) team round out the field.

The Lions will be back in action on April 6-7 when the team travels to Edmond, Okla. to take part in the Central Oklahoma Invitational.
