Lions finish in third place at Red River Intercollegiate

Thackerville, Okla.
- The Missouri Southern golf team finished third today after the final round of the Red River Intercollegiate hosted by East Central (Okla.) University at the Winstar Golf Club.

Junior David Eddy shot an opening round 73 and followed it up with another 73 to finish tied for sixth place at 146. Freshman Andy Hogenmiller and sophomore Seve Smith both shot a four-over 148 to finish tied for ninth place. Redshirt sophomore Chris Needam shot a seven-over 151, while sophomore's Taylor Griffith and Jamie Voegeli shot a 161 and 163, respectively.

The Lions were in second place after day one, just seven strokes off the lead and improved their first day total of 298 to 295, but a strong second day total of 288 from Oklahoma Baptist lifted OBU one stroke over the Lions into second place behind tournament champion Northeastern State.

NSU was first, followed by OBU, Southern, St. Mary's and Southwestern Oklahoma State to round out the top five. Dallas Baptist finished sixth, followed by East Central, Texas A&M Commerce, West Texas A&M, Northwood, Cameron, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Midwestern State, Seminole State CC and Bacone.

The Lions will be off until March 23rd and 24th when Southern returns to action at the Drury Intercollegiate.
