Final Results

Pittsburg, Kan.
- The Missouri Southern golf team improved their first-round score (293) by five strokes to shoot a 288, but couldn't keep up with the torrid play of both Central Missouri and Washburn in today's final round and finished third at the Pittsburg State Invitational at Crestwood CC.

The Lions shot even par in the second round, led by a four-under par 68 from freshman Andy Hogenmiller (Washington, Mo.). Hogenmiller finished tied for second place, three strokes behind Central Missouri's Justin Yoder.

Central Missouri shot a sizzling 13-under par as a team today and Washburn followed that up with a nine-under par team performance. The Mules finished the tournament 12 strokes in front of Washburn to pick up the first conference tournament of the season. Lincoln was fourth, while Truman, Pittsburg State, Fort Hays, Southwest Baptist, Missouri Western and Coffeyille CC round out the top ten.

Hogenmiller was the Lions top performer, improving his first round score of 72 to finish four under par for the tournament. Taylor Griffith (Carthage, Mo.) finished tied for seventh with a one under, 143, while Seve Smith (Webb City, Mo.) shot a 147. David Clark (Neosho, Mo.) had a 149, while Springdale, Ark. natives Chris Needham and Stephen Boyd shot a 151 and 152, respectively. Adam Nelson (Parsons, Kan.) had a 152, and David Eddy (Carl Junction, Mo.) finished with a 155.

The Lions will be back in action next Monday when they travel to Broken Arrow, Okla. to compete in the Northeastern State Invitational.
