FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 5, 2008 Lions' Voegeli first round leader at NCAA Division II Central Regional First Round Results Findlay, Ohio - Missouri Southern freshman Jamie Voegeli (Muskogee, Okla.) shot an even par 72 and is the first round leader at the 2008 NCAA Division II Central Regional at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio . The Lions are in third place in the region, after a first round 308. They sit ten strokes back of first place Washburn (298) and two behind second place Missouri Western (306). Southwest Baptist (309) is fourth, while Upper Iowa (311), Central Missouri (316), Fort Hays (319) and Winona State (320) round out the top eight. Sophomore's David Eddy (Carl Junction, Mo.) and Adam Nelson (Parsons, Kan.) are tied for 19th at 78, while freshman Seve Smith (Webb City, Mo.) is tied for 25th at 80 and senior Ben Perry (Kansas City, Mo.) is 30th with an 82. Washburn leads the Central Region, while Ferris State leads the Great Lakes Region with an identical score of 298. Both tournaments are being played on the same course and the winners of each regional, as well as the top team, regardless of region, will qualify for the 2008 National Tournament in Houston, Texas. The Lions will have 18 holes tomorrow and another 18 on Wednesday to close out the tournament. |
