FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 31, 2008 Lions in third after first day at Missouri Western Invite First Round Results St. Joseph, Mo. - David Eddy (Carl Junction, Mo.) is tied for the clubhouse lead after shooting a first-round 69 and the Missouri Southern golf team is in third place, just six strokes back after the first day of the Missouri Western Invite at St. Joseph. Eddy shot a 33 on the front and a 36 on the back and at one time was five under, but finished the day three under par with a 69. He is tied with Washburn's Matt Lazzo for the overall lead. The Lions trail first place Washburn by six strokes and second place Western by two. Seve Smith (Webb City, Mo.) shot a 37-34 to finish with a one under 71 for the day and tied for third place. Corey Clingan (Carl Junction, Mo.) shot a 73 to finish tied for tenth, while Adam Nelson (Parsons, Kan.) (78) and Ben Perry (Kansas City, Mo.) (79) were tied for 32nd and 39th, respectively. Chris Needham (Springdale, Ark.) and Jamie Voegeli, (Muskogee, Okla.) playing as individuals, both shot a first round 77. The Lions will finish up the tournament with another 18 holes tomorrow morning. |
