Lions finish third at UCM/Heart of America Tournament

Warrensburg, Mo.
- The Missouri Southern golf team improved its second day score by three strokes and finished third at the Central Missouri Heart of America Classic today in Warrensburg.

The Lions shot a first day 300 and were third after the first round of 18 holes. Today, Southern shot a 297 as a team, led by David Eddy who finished second overall, after shooting a first-round 72 and a second round 71 to finish one over par for the tournament.

Eddy finished just three strokes off of individual champion John Robbins of Washburn. Washburn's Matt Lazzo, as well as Central's Ty Needles and Justin Yoder all tied with Eddy for second place.

Central Missouri finished second, three strokes behind Washburn. Southern was third, but led fourth place Missouri Western by 14 strokes. Central Missouri's B team finished fifth.

Seve Smith finished seventh with a two day 145, just two strokes behind Eddy. Jamie Voegeli, playing as an individual, finished with a two day 150 to place 16th. Adam Nelson was 23rd with a 153, while Chris Needham, also playing as an individual, shot a 155. Corey Clingan and Ben Perry finished with a 156 and 157, respectively.

The Lions will be back in action next week, traveling to St. Joseph to compete in the Missouri Western Invitational.
