FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 8, 2007 Lions finish in sixth place at Fort Hays State Invite Final Results Hays, Kan. - The Missouri Southern Lion golf team finished in sixth place today at the Fort Hays State Invitational taking place at Smoky Hills Country Club. Southern was led by freshman Seve Smith. Smith shot a 76 - 75 to finish tied for 20th at 151. David Eddy was tied for 24th at 152, while Ben Perry and Adam Nelson shot 153 and 155, respectively. Corey Clingan and David Needham were tied for 38th at 157, while Jamie Voegeli shot a 167. Washburn University was tied for second place after day one, but improved its team total by 12 strokes, shooting a two under 282 as a team on day two to finish two strokes in front of Central Missouri. The Mules improved by eight strokes to shoot a 286 on day two. Missouri Western was third, followed by Truman State and Newman University to round out the top five. Washburn's Matt Ewald had an eight under 63 in round two to capture the overall title by six strokes over Central Missouri's Justin Yoder. the Mules' Ty Needles and Matt Miller tied for third at 144, while Washburn's Matt Salome, Fort Hays' Nick Rotolo and Newman's Noah Smithson were tied for fifth at 145. The Lions are finished with the fall portion of their 2007-08 schedule and will pick up the spring portion of the schedule in March. |
