FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 9, 2007 Lions finish second at NCAA Division II Super Regional Central Region Final Scores Great Lakes Region Final Scores JOPLIN, Mo. - The Missouri Southern golf team finished second at the 2007 NCAA Division II Super Regional at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club today. Washburn won the Central Region, while Ferris State won the Great Lakes Region. Southern freshman Adam Nelson had a solid final day, shooting a one under 71 and finishing with a three-day score of 220, tied for third place with teammate Tommy Clifford. Clifford shot a 76 today, while senior Tyler Goecker shot a 77 to finish tied for sixth with a three-day 222. Senior Eric Byers was tied for 27th with a three-day 233, while junior David Clark shot a three-day 237 to finish tied for 35th. Washburn finished 17 shots in front of Southern to win the Central Region and the automatic berth in the NCAA National Tournament at Grand Valley State University. The Ichabod's Ryan Deutsch was the Central individual champion with a three under, 213 for the tournament. His teammate Matt Lazzo was second with a 219, while Nelson and Clifford followed in a tie for third, and Missouri Western's Aaron Lisenbee was fifth. Central Missouri, Winona State and Missouri Western rounded out the top five teams. Ferris State's Jeff Carlson had a three-day 10-under par 206 to win the Great Lakes individual title. He was followed closely by Southern Illinois - Edwardsville's Kyle Lickenbrock at nine under. Lickenbrock will receive a bid to national's as the top individual finisher, not a member of a winning team. Indianapolis, Saginaw Valley, Grand Valley, and Wayne State round out the top five in the Great Lakes.
