Lions finish second at Kansas City Intercollegiate

Kansas City, Mo.
- Missouri Southern shot its second straight round under 300 and finished tied for second place with Johnson County Community College at the Kansas City Intercollegiate at Swope Memorial Country Club in Kansas City today.

Tyler Goecker shot a first round even par and a second round two under, 70 to finish two under for the tournament and in fourth place. Eric Byers shot a 72-73 to finish one over and tied for ninth place. Adam Nelson was three over and tied for 17th, while Tommy Clifford shot a five over 149 to tie for 21st. Ben Perry shot an eight over 152 and was tied for 36th. David Clark shot a four under front nine on day one, but struggled to capture that form in the later rounds and finished with a 157.

The Lions shot 292 on day one and 291 on day two to finish tied with Johnson County with a 583, seven over for the tournament. The University of Missouri-Kansas City won the tournament with a six-under 570. Central Missouri was fourth at 584, while Nebraska Wesleyan finished fifth with a 590.

Brad Nipper of Southwest Baptist led a group of eight golfers that finished under par for the tournament. Central Missouri's Justin Yoder was second, while Andrew Manley of Johnson County, Goecker, and Adam Blue of UMKC rounded out the top five.

The Lions will now gear up for the MIAA Tournament held on April 23-24. The Tournament will be held at Branson Creek Golf Course.
