FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 2, 2007 Lions in first place after day one of Missouri Southern Invitational Day One Results Joplin, Mo. - Southern senior Tommy Clifford shot a first-round 72, one stroke off the lead, and the Lions lead by four strokes after the first round of Missouri Southern Invitational at Loma Linda Country Club. Eric Byers shot a first round 73, while Corey Clingan shot a 76. Tyler Goecker shot a 77 and Adam Nelson shot a 79. The Southern "b" team is in 8th place after day one. David Clark and David Eddy shot a 79 and 81, respectively, while Adam Johnson and Ben Perry were at 82 and 83. Brent Moore shot an 88. Southern shot a 298 and lead the ten-team field by four strokes over its nearest competitor in Washburn. The Ichabods shot a first round 302. Missouri Western is third at 316 and Central Missouri and Truman State are tied for fourth at 319. Fort Hays State's Nick Rotello was the only golfer in the field to hit par shooting a 35 on the front and a 36 on the back for a 71. Clifford and Dan Hersch of Washburn are tied for second with a 72, while Washburn's Matt Lazzo and Byers are tied for fourth at 73. Action will continue tomorrow with an 8:30 am tee time on Wednesday morning. |
