FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 27, 2007 Lions finish fourth at Washburn Invitational Final Tournament Results Topeka, Kan. - Southern senior Tommy Clifford shot a second-round 71 to go with his first round score of 72 and helped lead the Lions to a fourth-place finish at the Washburn Invitational today in Topeka. Clifford finished fifth overall, four strokes off of the leader, Justin Yoder of Central Missouri. Matt Ewald, Matt Lazzo and Sam Wempe, all of Washburn round out the top five with Clifford. Eric Byers shot a first round 71 and a second round 77 to finish with a six over 148 and tied for 11th. Adam Nelson was tied for 17th at 150, while Ben Perry shot a 157 to finish 33rd. David Eddy rebounded from a first round 82 to shoot 76 on day two and fhinshed tied for 34th with a 158. The Lions had three golfers in the top 20 and all four countable scores in the top 25. Washburn's "A" team took home the team title with a two day, five over, 573. Central Missouri finished second, while the Washburn "B" team was third. Southern and Western round out the top five teams. The Lions will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, April 2-3 when they play host to the Missouri Southern Invitational at Loma Linda Country Club. |
