FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 13, 2007 Southern Golfers finish second at Lonnie Barton Invitational Complete Results Hilton Head, SC - The Missouri Southern golf team turned in a day two, best team score of 299, one shy of the tournament low, and moved from third to second place in the final standings at the Lonnie Barton Invitational today in Hilton Head, SC. Senior Tommy Clifford finished fourth overall with a two day total of 148, three shots off the individual medalist, Patrick Kelly of Division I Long Island University. LIU's Rob Gallager was second with a 147, followed by Thomas Facciani of Indiana University - Pennsylvania at 147, and Clifford at 148. The Lions, as a team, finished just six strokes off of the team champion IUP. Southern was followed by Division I LIU, Ohio Valley and another Division I, Fairfield, to round out the top five. In all, Southern defeated all four Division I teams in the tournament. Tyler Geocker shot a two-round 152, followed by Adam Nelson's 155, Eric Byers' 157 and Ben Perry's 158. The Lions will be in action next on March 19 and 20 when they travel to Russellville, Arkansas for the Arkansas Tech Invitational. |
