FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 20, 2006 Golfers finish fourth among thirteen schools at SBU Invite Bolivar, Mo. - Tommy Clifford (Overland Park, KS/Johnson County CC) shot a first-round 75 and a final round 74 to finish fifth overall and help the Missouri Southern golfers to a fourth-place team finish at the Southwest Baptist Fall Invitational at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar. Southern entered the final day of the two-day tournament tied with Washburn, Drury and Central Missouri for the team lead in the event. Washburn, however, shot four under as a team in the second round and rolled to the team title finishing 20 strokes ahead of second place Drury. Central finished third, one stroke behind Drury and Southern was just one shot behind Central. Missouri Western rounded out the top five. Washburn's Matt Ewald (four under) and Ryan Deutsh (five under) both shot under par to help the Ichabods to the title. Ewald earned the individual title. Drury's Jason Clamors shot a five over, 147, while Western's Aaron Lisenbee finished fourth with a six over 148. Clifford was tied with Central's Danny Markham for fifth with a seven over, 149. Tyler Goecker (Kansas City, MO/Johnson County CC) finished tied for tenth with a 152. Adam Nelson (Parsons KS/Labette Co. HS) was 18th with a 154, while Eric Byers (Humboldt, KS/Johnson County CC) was 24th with a 155. David Eddy (Carl Junction, MO/Carl Junction HS) was 43rd at a 159, while David Clark (Neosho, MO/Neosho HS) was 55th at a 163 and Corey Clingan (Carl Junction, MO/Carl Junction HS) was tied for 65th at 167. The Lions will be back in action
September 25 and 26 when they travel to Muskogee, OK to take part in the
Northeastern State Invitational.
