Three from Southern golf team earn MIAA
award
Dugger, Marks, Sinksen named to
Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll
Three members of the Missouri Southern
State University men’s golf team were named to the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, the league announced
recently.
Juniors John
Dugger (Joplin, Mo.) and Danny Sinksen (Sioux
Falls, S.D.), along with sophomore Nick
Marks (Pryor, Okla.) received
the honor for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of
3.00 or better.
Dugger, the son of Dr. David and Cynthia
Dugger, holds a 3.162 GPA as a business major at Missouri
Southern. He averaged 78.6 strokes while competing in two
tournaments this season with the Lions. It marks the second
time for Dugger to receive the award.
Sinksen, a management major who maintains a
3.833 GPA, was also an All-MIAA performer this year for the
second time in his career. He averaged 77.0 strokes per round
this year and competed in each tournament of the season for the
Lions. Sinksen received the honor for the second straight year.
He is the son of Robert and Jane Sinksen.
Marks, an accounting major with a 3.333
GPA, was a first-year recipient of the award. The son of David
and Melinda Marks, he posted an average of 81.3 strokes in two
tournaments this season.
Student-athletes are named to the list
under the following criteria: 1.) The student-athlete must have
a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better at the qualifying
institution; 2.) The student-athlete must have at least two
terms of attendance at the member school, excluding summer
sessions; 3.) The student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior
or senior in athletic eligibility; 4.) Student-athletes
inactive due to redshirt or hardship qualification are not
eligible.
A total of 20 men’s golf
student-athletes from six MIAA institutions received the honor
in 2004.
