Lions fourth at MIAA Tournament BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (April 20) -- Missouri Southern finished fourth at the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday and ended up fourth in the MIAA regular season standings, too. The Lions shot a 915 (305-146-158-306) in the two-day conference tournamanet held at the par 72, 6630-yard Country Club of Blue Springs. Washburn, with an 886, won the tournament title by 12 strokes over runner-up Central Missouri State. The Lions got a pair of seventh-place finishes from two South Dakota seniors. Danny Sinksen and Travis Stockholm carded scores of 227. Stockholm shot an opening-round 73. Sinksen put up 37s on each of the two rounds of nine and clased the tournament with a 75. Sinksen earned All-MIAA honors for the 2004-05 season based on his finishes throughout the season at conference-sanctioned events. Two other MSSU performers tied for 22nd overall. Senior Geir Askvik and freshman Ben Perry each had 236s. Perry closed the tournament with a final round 77. Askvik shot a combined 74 in the middle two rounds of nine. Andrew Koehler rounded out Southern's contingent at the tournament. Koehler, who opened with a 74, shot a 247 for the tournament. The Lions scored a total of 25 points to finish in fourth place for the yearly MIAA standings, which is based on a team's finishes at five conference events throughout the fall and spring. Washburn had 42 points to win by eight over runner-up CMSU. Missouri Western had 30 to finish in third. Truman placed fifth with 16 points. |
