Lions finish third at NEO A&M Tourney
Missouri Southern opened the season with a 36-hole total of 610 on Monday (Sept. 13) and finished third in the 10-team Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Norsemen Invitational at Peoria Ridge Golf Club in Miami, Okla.
The Lions placed 12 strokes behind winner St. Gregory's (Okla.) and finished five behind second-place Paris (Texas) Junior College. MSSU carded a 303 over the opening 18 holes, and had a 307 over the final 18 in the one-day tourney.
Senior Travis Stockholm (Springfield, S.D.) finished third overall with a score of 147 (74-73). Freshman Ben Perry (Lee's Summit, Mo.) added a 152 (76-76) for Southern.
Other MSSU scores included senior Andy Koehler (Superior, Wis.) with 155 (78-77), senior Geir Askvik (Oslo, Norway) with 156 (75-81) and senior Danny Sinksen (Sioux Falls, S.D.) with 169 (88-81). Southern also had two play as individuals in the tournament. Nick Marks (Pryor, Okla.) carded a score of 168 (85-83) and Nick Andrews (Lee's Summit, Mo.) added a 173 (97-76).
Fort Hays (Kan.) State finished fourth with a total of 626, followed by Seminole State (Okla.) with a 634.
