Southern Cross Country Sweeps MIAA Weekly Awards

The Missouri Southern men's and women's cross country programs picked up both the MIAA's men's and women's cross country runners of the week awards today as announced by the league office.

Kimi Shank (Rolla, Mo) was the top Division II finisher at this past Saturday's Southern Stampede. She finished fourth, behind only two runners from Tulsa and one from Oklahoma. The junior finished the 5k course with a time of 17:26.7 and paced the women to a second place finish.

Jarkko Jarvenpaa (Tampere, Finland) was the Lions top finisher at the Stampede, placing ninth. He covered the 8k course with a time of 25:23.3 as the Lions finished second behind third ranked Harding.

The Southern men will take a week off, while the women head to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the Incarnate Word Invite. Both teams will be at the Oklahoma State Jamboree on October 4.
