Cross Country teams move up in National/Regional Polls

Joplin, MO -- The Missouri Southern men's and women's cross country teams have both jumped up into the top 20 in the recent USA Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Polls with the men moving to 11th and the women 16th.

The men, who had been ranked as high as 24th a few weeks ago, dropped out of the pool last week, but after a first place showing at the Missouri/Illinois Border Wars, moved up to 11th nationally. The team is second in the South Central Region, behind Abilene Christian.

The women were ranked 24th last week, but after finishing second at the Border Wars in front of three ranked teams, the Lions moved up to 16th this week. They are also ranked second in the South Central Region, behind Abilene Christian.

Both teams will be off this week, but will travel to Southwest Baptist for the MIAA Cross Country Championships on October 21.
