Southern's Dixon named MIAA Cross Country Runner of the Week

Overland Park, Kansas -- Dustin Dixon finished eighth out of a field of 317 runners, helping the Missouri Southern Lions to the team title at the Missouri/Illinois Border Wars this past Saturday. For that, the sophomore has been named the MIAA Cross Country Runner of the Week award as announced by the league office today.

Dixon (St. Clair, MO/St. Clair HS) posted a time of 25:34.96 leading the Lions to the overall title. Southern finished 61 points in front of the next nearest Division II opponent and 10th ranked Southwest Baptist.

In what proved to be a tune-up for the MIAA Championships at Southwest Baptist on October 21, Southern finished in front of five MIAA teams including SBU, Central Missouri, Pittsburg State, Emporia State and Truman State.
