Lions debut at #18 In Division II Coaches Poll

Kansas City, Mo. - The Missouri Southern men's basketball team, which has equaled the program's best-ever start at 9-0, has debuted this week at No. 18 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II National Poll.

Southern has started 9-0 for just the second time in the program's history, the other being in 1999-2000 when the Lions went 30-3 and made a trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four.

The Lions opened up MIAA play with a 65-56 road win at Truman and added a thrilling 71-70 come back victory at home over then 22nd ranked Central Missouri last Saturday. Tony Webb capped off an 18-3 Lions' run in the final three minutes with a jumper at the top of the key as time expired to give the Lions the win.

Southern will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 18-20 to take part in the Lexmark/Puerto Rico Holiday Tournament. The Lions will face off against the University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras on the 18th at 5 pm central time. Southern's final two games in the tournament will be determined by the outcomes of the other tournament games.
