Bowlin ties three-point record, but huge Washburn run lifts Ichabods over Lions, 93-86

- Skyler Bowlin tied a Missouri Southern record with eight threes and the Lions led by as many as 17 in the game, but Washburn utilized a huge second-half run to put away MSSU, 93-86 tonight in Lee Arena.

Southern (17-10, 7-10 MIAA), a game removed from erasing a 23-point lead against Emporia State, had the same thing done to them tonight in Topeka. Bowlin had a career-high 28 points on 10-14 shooting from the field and 8-11 from long range. He added six assists. Mariun Price had 18, while Jason Adams and DaRell Crittendon scored 14 and 13, respectively. Adams went 3-4 from long range and Crittendon added a career-high 10 rebounds.

Lekheythian Malone and Nate Daniels scored 18 points each for the Ichabods (14-11, 10-8 MIAA). The Ichabods hit 11-28 from long range and 30-60 from the field.

Southern took a 12-11 lead at the 14:58 minute mark of the first half on a three from Bowlin. The lead was 25-15 after another three from Bowlin with 9:36 left to go in the half. A long range basket from Adams made the score 41-26 with three minutes left and the halftime score would be 43-33 with Bowlin going 6-6 from long range in the first frame.

The Lions started the second half on a 12-5 run and led by as many as 17 (55-38) after a jumper from Adams, but Washburn went on a 24-6 run to take a 62-61 lead, after a layup from Eggins with 9:30 left. Southern re-took the lead briefly at 70-69, but the Ichabods ended the game on what would be a 55-31 run to close out the Lions.

Southern forced 17 Washburn turnovers, scoring 28 points off of the miscues, however the Ichabod bench outscored the Lions 36-19. 

The Lions will continue their road swing with a Saturday match up at Fort Hays. Tip off between the Lions and the Tigers is slated for 4 pm. Southern lost 67-59 earlier in the year to Hays in Joplin.
