FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 19, 2008 Lions add junior college transfer for 2008 Joplin, Mo. - Missouri Southern basketball coach Robert Corn has announced that Mariun Price has signed a national letter of intent to attend Southern and play basketball beginning in the winter of 2008. Price, a 6-0 guard, is a native of Memphis, Tenn. where he played his prep basketball at Harding Academy. While at Harding, Price was a three time All-Metro selection and two time All-State selection, including being named to the Memphis Commercial Appeal's Best of Preps list three times. He was a member of the regional and State All-Tournament team twice, and was his league's MVP his senior season. He holds Harding Academy's school records for most free throws in a game (17), most free throws attempted in a game (23), consecutive free throws made (43), free throws made and attempted in a season (219/254), as well as most free throws made and attempted in a career (492/611). He scored over 2,000 points in his career. Price enrolled at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. where he played in ten games as a freshman in 2006-07 for the Jaguars. He then transferred to Kaskaskia Junior College and played one season, averaging 14.1 points per game, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, while shooting 35 percent from long range and helping to lead Kaskaskia to a 23-8 record. The son of Robert and Paula Price, Mariun will have two years of eligibility left with the Lions and is undecided on his future major at Southern. |
