KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A pair of Missouri Southern senior men's basketball players earned recognition Sunday (Feb. 26) on the All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association squad.

MSSU's Quentin Edwards (Peoria, Ill.) collected second-team All-MIAA honors, while Dan Jones (Sarcoxie, Mo.) was an honorable mention selection.

This season Edwards has started 25 of 26 games, and he also missed one contest due to a knee injury. He has scored in double figures in 24 contests this season, including six 20-point efforts. Against Pittsburg State on Jan. 11, Edwards scored a career-best 27 points in leading the Lions to an improbable comeback victory after trailing by as many as 28 points with 13 minutes to play. In that game, Edwards scored all of his 13 second-half points consecutively during a game ending 25-4 run.

For his career, Edwards has reached double digits in scoring in 46 of 58 career games, including a string of 25 straight that started with the final nine games last season. He currently has 766 career points, 255 rebounds, 158 assists and 111 steals.

Jones, a 6-foot-7 center, is second on the team with 12.1 points per game and he leads the Lions with 6.4 rebounds an outing.

A fifth-year senior, Jones had 272 points and 178 rebounds coming into the 2005-06 season. But this year, Jones has dropped in 326 points and 174 rebounds while starting all 27 contests. He has scored in double figures in 18 games this season, with five double-doubles,, and has 61 points over his last three. That includes a career-high 29 points Saturday (Feb. 26) at Emporia State and a 28-point outing on Feb. 15 against Pittsburg State.

Through Saturday's games, Jones ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding and defensive rebounds, and is 14th in the league in scoring.

A starter in 37 straight games, Jones is a career 52.5 percent (222-423) field goal shooter and a career 64.3 percent (153-238) free throw shooter.

Missouri Southern (12-15, 5-11 MIAA) enters the MIAA Postseason Tournament as the No. 7 seed and will play at 6 p.m. Friday (March 3) in the first round against No. 2 seed Central Missouri State.
