Corn’s basketball Lions ink 6-foot-4
guard
Jeremy McCadney,
a 6-foot-4 and 195-pound guard, has signed a national
letter-of-intent to play basketball at Missouri Southern State
University, head coach Robert Corn announced today.
“We’re excited to have Jeremy
as part of our program,” Corn said. “He’s a
versatile player that can play several different positions for
us. He’s an outstanding athlete and we feel he will
definitely have the potential to be a strong contributor for us
next year.”
McCadney, a native of Union City, Tenn.,
was a two-year starter at Shawnee Community College in Ulin,
Ill. He averaged 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as
a sophomore. He led the Saints in rebounding and blocked shots
and was named the squad’s best defender.
McCadney prepped at Union City (Tenn.) High
School, where he was a three-year starter as a small
forward/power forward. He led the Tornado in field goal
percentage, rebounding and blocked shots all three years.
McCadney was also an all-state track &
field performer in high school, as he was state runner-up in
both the long jump and triple jump.
The son of Rev. Albert and Doretha
McCadney, he plans to study accounting at Missouri Southern.
McCadney is the third signing of the year
for the Missouri Southern State University men’s
basketball program. He joins guards Tyler Ryerson (Willard,
Mo.) and Quentin Edwards (Peoria, Ill.) in the 2004 recruiting
class. Ryerson signed during the November early-signing period
and Edwards inked with the Lions last month.
