Southern releases 2008 Football Schedule

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern football team will be in the friendly confines of Fred G. Hughes Stadium seven times in 2008 when the Lions play seven home games as part of their 2008 schedule.

Southern will open the season with two non-conference home games. The Lions will welcome in Harding University on Saturday, August 30 for a 6 pm kickoff and will then face off with Haskell University on Thursday, September 4 at 6 pm.

The Lions open up MIAA play on Saturday September 13 with the US Cellular Miner's Bowl XI in Pittsburg, Kansas taking on the Pittsburg State Gorillas. Southern then welcomes in new MIAA member Nebraska-Omaha with a 6 pm kickoff on September 20 in Hughes Stadium.

MSSU will play Washburn University for homecoming on October 4, as well as Central Missouri (Oct. 18), Missouri Western (Oct. 25),  and 2007 NCAA Division II National Runner Up Northwest Missouri (Nov. 8) all at home.

The Lions road MIAA contests will include trips to Emporia State (Sept. 27), Fort Hays (Oct. 11) and Truman State (Nov. 1).
